Senior Medical Interpreter

Empowering students. Expanding opportunities. Preparing future leaders.
The Senior Mediceal Program provides accredited 40-hour professional interpreter training to bilingual high school seniors, equipping them with essential skills to support communication in healthcare settings. Designed as a pilot for the 2024–2025 school year, the program empowers students to serve underserved communities, build transferable career skills, and explore pathways in healthcare and language services while helping bridge critical language gaps in their communities.

Support this program
The Senior Medical Interpreter Program is designed to empower bilingual students by developing professional skills, expanding career opportunities, and preparing them for meaningful success beyond high school. At the Clark County Equity Coalition (CCEC), we partner with schools, districts, healthcare leaders, and community organizations to provide relationship-centered, equity-driven programming that addresses real community needs. We believe every student deserves access to opportunities that create confidence, purpose, and pathways toward a successful future.
Through accredited 40-hour professional interpreter training, students gain valuable real-world experience while learning how to bridge communication gaps for limited English proficient individuals and families. Participants develop professional communication skills, cultural competency, leadership abilities, and an understanding of medical terminology and ethics—all while making a direct impact within their community.
The program introduces students to career pathways in healthcare, interpretation services, public health, social services, and other professional fields where bilingual skills are highly valued. Students also benefit from mentorship, hands-on learning experiences, and exposure to professional environments that help strengthen college and career readiness.
At its core, the Senior Medical Interpreter Program creates a supportive and inspiring environment where students feel valued, capable, and empowered to use their language skills as a tool for service and leadership. By combining education, professional development, and community impact, the program equips students with transferable skills, increased confidence, and meaningful opportunities that can shape their future for years to come.
